EATS: Twisted sushi for all to bite

EVEN if you are not a sushi fan, you have to pay a visit to the chic Tokyo G restaurant, formerly known as Sushigroove.

The restaurant offers ingenious twists to the classic Japanese food, with its signature G-Rolls.With over 30 different assortments of G-Rolls priced from RM6.90 onwards, it is possible for just anyone to enjoy fusion Japanese food.

‘Fusion Dragon’ is a must-try. Shaped like a dragon, the roll is made up of smoked beef and mango (made all the more flavourful with salmon), a touch of local cili padi and my favourite – crunchy bits of tempura flakes.

Other yummy must-trys are ‘Chameleon Roll’, a unique roll consists of Tamago wrapped with kyuri, topped with slices of smoked salmon and avocado; ‘Smoked Salmon Roll’, a delicious crab salad rolled with tempura flakes and smoked salmon, and topped with Teriyaki sauce; ‘Philadelphia Beef Roll’, made up of minced chicken and onions wrapped in grilled beef, topped with tempura flakes and served with mayo and chili sauce; and ‘Hattori Hanzo Roll’, which is chicken katsu with a touch of cream cheese in spicy sauce. These are simply divine.

Besides sushi, my personal recommendation is the pasta. Try out the ‘Bangkok G’ pasta. The spicy sauce will tickle your taste buds and the dish is completed when topped with prawns and squids – absolutely to die for! the car, or any of the other prizes up for grabs.

Another hot pick is the ‘Creamy Mussels’ or ‘G Carbonara’, which has a hint of sesame taste to the cream sauce – simply fabulous! As for desserts, get your tongue twisted with, get this, wasabi or sesame ice cream.

You’d be pleasantly surprised with its delicate taste. You’ll never know how far you’ll go with sushi until you try it. Tokyo G outlets are located in One Utama and Sunway Pyramid.
